In its recent newsletter, YorkArts announced changes to its literary competition — Writer’s Eye. This year, the nonprofit arts organization will challenge writers to visit the industrial themed sculptures on North George Street in downtown York and choose one of the 10 pieces as inspiration for a poem or short story. With the competition, YorkArts will highlight Creativity Unleashed, an initiative that recognizes York County as a home to many industrial designers and artists.
The Writer’s Eye competition runs Monday, Sept. 23, to Jan. 4, 2014. In the past, the contest has been open to students and adults. Writers are invited to take a self guided tour of the sculptures or join YorkArts for a free tour of the industrial sculptures 1 p.m. Sept. 28. For details, call 717-848-3200 or visit www.yorkarts.org.
